The program aims at a tourist business level to educate tourists on how to be water wise when visiting the Mildura and Swan Hill regions i.e. at their accommodation or visiting attractions.
It also aims to educate tourist accommodation operators of the fiscal benefits of becoming a water wise business i.e. implementing water saving initiatives within their business.
Turing Water Wise in Tourism Project is innovative in its targeting of the accommodation properties within the Tourism Industry.
It is not restricted to only hotels and motels, but is extended to caravan parks, houseboats, bed & breakfasts, backpacker hostels, holiday houses and apartments in each of the Mildura and Swan Hill Regions.
To further strengthen the importance of water usage, the Turning Water Wise in Tourism Project will extend beyond
in-room water use only to look at savings in the areas of laundry rooms, room cleaning and maintaining water levels in pools and spas.
